I want to cover the cost/print my own materials - what is the cost?

Leaflets (double sided 3.5''x8.5'' )  = ~$0.02/leaflet
Cards (single sided on card stock 3.5'x2) = ~$0.015/card
Stickers (red, blue, black, semi-permanent 4''x2'') = ~$0.03/sticker
Posters (8.5''x11'') = ~$0.04/poster

We can provide you the edittable files to print for yourself through a local print shop. At low quantities prices will likely be much higher. We suggest  getting price quotes from several places and to take advantage of places you can print for free (e.g., at work or school).

Is VeganOutreach.ca affiliated with VeganOutreach.org the US based organization?

No, VeganOutreach.ca is a project of The Canadian Animal Liberation Movement and is not officially connected to VeganOutreach.org the US based organization. VeganOutreach.org has made an enourmous contribution to the animal liberation movement in the US. They have provided a good service to some Canadian activists, but have accomplished much more in the US. Many canadian activists have lacked the support they need to be effective and that is why CALM Action initiated VeganOutreach.ca.

Why do you have 'Donate to Mercy for Animals' on your home page instead of 'Donate to CALM'?

There is no doubt that CALM Action does great work and that access to financial resources is always a limiting factor. But CALM is decentralized and to build and sustain a revolutionary movement, the financial responsibility for actions will always be at the grass roots with the activists. If you want to fund a CALM Action you should connect with an experienced CALM Activist near you or plan the action yourself. Email us at info@CALMaction.org for more information.
It would do a world of good for vegetarians and vegans to donate at least 1% of their income to activist organizations. Giving time and resources to the movement  will help animals and that is why we all became vegetarian and then vegan.  If individuals do wish to immediately donate money to the movement we encourage them to donate to MFA (Mercy for Animals). We are not connected with MFA  in any way but we appreciate the amazing work they do.

Why do you suggest to 'Donate to Mercy for Animals' instead of other organizations?

The best use of funds will always be at the grass roots with effective activists; however, MFA shows great promise - they are clearly ambitious and have proven themselves over and over again. We have found many of their initaitives very effective (chooseveg.com, 400,000 outreach materials distributed, several successful undercover investigations, a developed intenship program, and releasing Fowl Play the Documentary are amoung their accomplishments in 2009). What they do they do very well and we hope a similar organization will emerge in Canada.
There are many other organizations that do fantastic work that would benefit from donations. VeganOutreach.org (US based organization) has made an enourmous contribution to the animal liberation movement (over 10 Million leaflets distributed in the US) and they make great use of donations (their leaflets would be near perfect if they included information on healthy, easy, and financially accesible food like 'chickpeas - $0.99/kg).

Are there similar services that provide vegan outreach materials?

Yes and No. There are no services that provide this level of service to Canadian activists. The organizations that do provide a similar service often differ in important areas. US based organizations such as VeganOutreach.org and PETA will provide Canadian activists outreach materials but the cost is often substainally higher, the speed of delivery is much slower, quantity may be limited due to cost , and they may include advertisements for vegan specialty products.

Vegan Outreach (US) does ship to Canada although it costs them 2-3 times as much than sending within the US. As in the US, they do ask people to help cover shipping and/or printing costs whenever possible. But as for leafleters in the US, they do try, whenever possible, to provide activists with as many of their leafleting booklets as they can use for events that focus on a receptive audience, as long as they get back to them about how they used them.

Why are there no advertiements for vegan specialty products in your outreach materials?

We do not advertise vegan specialty products since not everyone can afford to buy them. Advertising them makes veganism seem exclusive (that only people with the money for these products can afford to go vegan). Veganism is not just for the middle and upper classes - when outreaching about vegan food it is most effective to include information on healthy, easy, and financially accesible food like chickpeas - $0.99/kg.

Why choose the project name VeganOutreach.ca ?

We chose the name to maximize our level of service to Canadians. We wanted Canadians who wanted to outreach veganism and animal liberation to be able to find us right away. The website address we use ensures the googling - 'vegan outreach canada' will return veganoutreach.ca. It was also chosen because of its literal meaning  - to outreach veganism.

How can I get an answer to questions that aren't posted here?
